kuafu shares the results of two Swiss pilots on VSE PerspectivE, which show how buildings can provide services to the grid. VSE PerspectivE is the platform of VSE, the association of Swiss electricity companies. The article “Turning Buildings Into Grid Service Providers: Evidence from Two Swiss Pilots” was written by Federica Bellizio, Hanmin Cai and Matthias Brandes of kuafu.
Lower costs for building operators
With Energie 360° and Smart Energy Link, kuafu’s predictive control gave a 72% better cost reduction than the standard benchmark control for a battery and solar system. For the EV charging of a company fleet, charging costs were 11% lower than with a rule-based control. Read the use case.
A grid limit, enforced in real time
In the Flex2gether pilot, the grid operator ewz set an 80 kW limit for a site one day ahead. kuafu reduced the time above the limit by about 90% and the energy above the limit by about 95%, compared with no control. The site still charged 2.04 MWh in 112 sessions. For this pilot, kuafu and SmartGridready developed a reusable functional profile for the interface between an orchestration platform and a grid operator. Read the use case.
Thank you to Energie 360°, Smart Energy Link, ewz and SmartGridready for the work together.
